Fast forward to today and the speculation is growing as to when the royal baby will arrive.
Kensington Palace said the baby would arrive in Spring, some are saying the bub will arrive around late April or early May (which Markle herself, hinted during a royal visit to Merseyside in January), and then to cause more speculation, Kensington palace have just launched the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official Instagram account, which begs us to question whether she’ll pop any day.
So, who do we believe so we can start planning office drinks?
Well, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have now announced its predictions for the Duchess of Sussex’s due date, revealing the greatest likelihood (with odds of 2-1) is that the newest member of the royal family will arrive the week commencing Monday 22 April.
Then the odds of Markle giving birth the following week during the week of Monday 29 April are 3-1, which then drop to 6-1 for the week starting Monday 6 May. As for her giving birth this week, the odds lie at 5-1.
If the royal baby is born on Sunday 21 April, then the bub will share their birthday with their great-grandmother, the Queen. This occurrence has 7-1 odds of happening, according to Paddy Power.
As for the baby’s name, Diana is the most popular, should it be a girl, with 3-1 odds, followed by the name Grace at 7-1 odds. If the baby is a boy, there’s a 13-1 odds of the bub being named after its paternal grandfather with the name Charles.
It’s all a waiting-game for now, so in the meantime we’ll be on Instagram heavily stalking their Instagram.
